Alphabet bookThis can be a project a child comes back to over several days. Or if you have several children (or you are a childminder) then you can divide the alphabet between the children so everyone is responsible for different letters. Ask the child to come up with a different object for each letter and then ask them to draw a picture of that object. Once they have done a picture for every letter, paste the pictures into a scrapbook or use a holepunch and some string or ribbon to bind the pictures together. You could try doing the alphabet books on a theme. For instance if you chose animals then the child could either draw the pictures themselves, cut the pictures out of a wildlife magazine or, if you want a day out, take photos at a zoo. Or if your child is interested in space, you could get them to do an alphabet book a long the lines of A is for Astronaut, B is for Black Hole, C is for Comet. For any letters where there is no obvious object beginning with that letter let your child design their own planet or alien species and make up a name beginning with that letter.
