Make a bookmarkBelow are some instructions for making a roaring lion bookmark. The technique can be adapted for lots of other designs - how about making a scary monster, a goldfish or a screaming baby? There are ideas for other methods of making bookmarks at the bottom of the page. (1) Cut a piece of card measuring 4.5cm by 18cm. Measure 7cm and 8.5cm from the top of the bookmark and draw two horizontal lines. (2) Fold along the scored lines to make the bookmark into a Z shape. Draw a lion design onto the card, as shown in the pictures below. (3) Colour in the lion using pencils, crayons or paints. I have added 'ROAR' in gold letters. These stickers can be found from any craft shop which sells card making or scrap book supplies. If you have some, add googly eyes to the bookmark! Other ideas for making bookmarks include: * Make a gift for family by glueing a picture of your child onto a piece of card. Embellish it with shapes from decorative punches, such as flowers, butterflies, etc (which are available in most craft shops). * Take a 22cm long length of ribbon (approximately 3mm wide) and tie a knot in one end. Thread some pretty, chunky beads onto it so that they cover about 5cm of the ribbon, and tie another knot to secure them. Measure about 10cm, tie another knot and then thread some beads onto the other end of the ribbon, securing with one final knot. * Cut a 18cm by 4.5cm piece of card. Make a collage on the bookmark with scraps and shapes cut from magazines, old artwork, wrapping paper, etc. Trim the excess from round the sides. Cover the front of the bookmark in PVC glue, which will dry clear, and leave it to dry.
