Make a denUse objects from around the house to create a playhouse that will keep the kids amused on a rainy afternoon. To make a den you will need a large blanket, a table cloth or a duvet. Drape it over a dining table, between sofas and chairs or between a couple of clothes airers. Fill it with colouring or story books, jigsaws, crayons or whatever activities your kids enjoy. If you have enough blankets and suitable furniture (and space!) make a tunnel and give your kids a torch to explore the dark cave! Large boxes can be a suitable alternative for making a den, and have the potential for further imaginative play by being turned into a boat, car or, if you turn it upside down and cut a window in it, a space ship.
