  • Easy Biscuit Recipe

The following recipe is extremely easy and produces delicious biscuits which are similar to shortbread. With supervision, these can be made and decorated with children from a very young age - the biscuits in the photo below were made by my son, aged 2.

    9 oz Plain flour
    5 oz Caster sugar
    4 oz Butter
    1 Egg
Ginger, cinammon or other spices (optional)

    (1) Pre-heat the oven to 180C.
    (2) Using a fork, mix together the flour, sugar, butter and spices (if using).
    (3) Once the mixture resembles bread crumbs add the egg and stir until it forms a ball of dough.
    (4) Sprinkle a little flour on your work surface and roll out the dough.
    (5) Let your child use cookie cutters to cut out biscuit shapes, helping if necessary.
    (6) Give the child a range of items to decorate the biscuits, for example raisins, chocolate chips, silver balls, etc. Alternatively, if your child is older, leave the biscuits plain before cooking then use a product such as Supercook Designer Icing to decorate them once they have cooled.
    (7) Pop in the oven for 12 - 15 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown but still slightly soft.
    (8) Allow to cool before eating.
