  • Finger Puppets

Below are instuctions to make simple finger puppets from card. At the bottom of the page you will find a template you can print out. You make the puppet's arms or legs (depending on the puppet's design) by cutting two holes to insert your fingers through. If your children are young, cut out the template for them and let them decorate it.

To make a finger puppet you will need:

  • Card

  • Scissors

  • Pens, pencils or paint

  • For this example you would also need two googly eyes and some ribbon or string. Your index and middle finger will be the puppet's arms.

  • Cut out a large oval with two further oval shapes on top forming the rabbit's ears (see above picture). Also cut out two smaller ovals. These will be the rabbit's feet.

  • Halfway down the rabbit's body cut two holes just large enough to insert your (or your child's) fingers through. Make two small holes in the body (with a holepunch if you have one) and a hole in each of the feet, to thread the ribbon or string through.

  • Colour in and decorate the rabbit. Stick on two googly eyes.

  • Tie the feet onto the body using the ribbon or string.

  • Your finger puppet is ready to be played with!
