Make a card
|
|
If you want to keep your kids entertained over the holidays or just on a rainy day, it might be worth investing in a few proper craft supplies. Kids can make their own Christmas cards for friends and family, birthday cards, invitations to a party, decorate a scrapbook... there is a big range of possibilities. With their imagination and, where necessary, a little assistance from a parent, card making can keep children entertained for hours.
|
Some good items to have in your craft box would be:
Blank greeting cards.
A selection of coloured A4 card and paper.
Some tacky/PVC glue.
Decorative punches. These come in a huge array of shapes such as flowers, butterflies, hearts, stars and animals, and are great fun for children!
Stamps and ink pads. Animals and fun shapes are great for childrens crafts, and a message stamp such as 'happy birthday' or 'merry christmas' can be a wise buy if your child is doing a number of cards.
|
|
Ribbons. Anywhere that sells card making and scrap book supplies will have a selection of sticky backed ribbon, for ease of use and no messy glueing!
Googly/wiggley eyes.
Glitter glue.
Gel pens. These give a more professional and glossy finish than normal felt tip pens.
Stickers. There are a huge range of stickers and peel offs available if you shop around. Try colouring in the peel off pictures with gel pens.
Creative scissors, for cutting decorative edges in paper or card.
|
Alternatively, look for inspiration around the house for craft supplies. You could try using:
Magazines. Cut out pictures of your child's favourite tv character and stick them onto card.
Old artwork. Cut it up, mount it on pretty paper and stick it on the card.
Wrapping paper. Old scraps could be great for collages.
Buttons.
Potatoes - for making potato prints.
Your hands! Try doing some finger painting. Or make a handprint on a card and add glitter glue and decorations aroung the edge.
