Rocking toy
This mini rocking horse is made out of a paper plate. If you don't have any paper plates, you can draw around a dinner plate onto some card and cut out the circle. You will also need pens, pencils or paint to decorate the toy.
Measure the width of the paper plate and draw two parallel lines so that the plate is divided into three equal parts (see above left picture).
Score the lines with a pair of scissors and bend the sides down, (above centre picture). This forms the rocker.
Draw out the shape of the horse's head onto a piece of card. The neck needs to be approximately 4cm wide. Cut a 2cm in the neck and a 4cm slit in the middle of the paper plate where you want the horse's head to be attached. Slot the pieces together and secure on the underside with a piece of tape.
Follow the same procedure for making the horse's tail. Alternatively, you could make a tail out of wool and tape or glue it onto the rocker.
Decorate the horse, for example adding eyes, a saddle, etc. You could use googly eyes to give the horse character, and glue on wool for the mane.
The rocker is complete. You could try other rocking animals or make mythical creatures such as unicorns and dragons!
