  • Treasure Box

This is a great way to keep young children entertained for hours, and it doesn't have to cost you a penny.

All you need to make the 'treasure box' is fill an empty box with household (child safe) items. The box could be a shoebox, plastic icecream tub, etc. Or make a drawstring bag to put the objects in.

Look around the house for items you think your child might enjoy playing with and put them in the box. Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • A wooden spoon

  • A whisk

  • An unused make-up brush

  • A feather

  • A pinecone

  • A loo roll

  • An empty (cleaned) yoghurt pot

  • A magnet

  • String of chunky beads or old jewellery

  • An old watch

  • Change the items regularly to prevent boredom.
